Its PvE, it doesn't really matter that much since so many things in PvE already bends the runles. You can pay at a shrine to get bonus in factions, you can buy candy canes to remove DP instantly, I don't see how these title effects are any different. All it does is give incentives for more hardcore players to work for, for some barely useful effects, what's so bad about that.

Plus it's fundamentally unfair to give perks to PVE titles and not PVP titles, that's discrimination or something.
My teacher once told me that you could make an arguments so stupid that you would support the others opinion.

You are telling me that good PvP players should have a benefit over the less good PvP players? Wouldn't that be unfair, especially on the ladder?

Well, you could say it have been discriminating to PvE players that they dont get an emote for their titles.

i really dont see the problem wow after XXX hours you can now do +X amout of damage or absorb from this monster

its means nothing yeah fair enough if it was 10+ damage each hit i could see elitism happening but for such a small amount of its amkes no difference.

and i dont see any deamons in pvp do you? i doubt it will affect pvp at all and why should pve guys get a little reward for weeks of work

as for the wisdom title im sure the chance are tiny and will get nerfed if it becomes a serious issue

No. No no no no no no no. This is horrible. The only thing this does is support time played > skill. Please. Increased chance of salvaging without destruction based on your wisdom rank? That title is simply a gold and time sink.

They shouldn't need any more benefits.
They get the titles, they get the status. That should be all that matters.
Giving a small percentage of PvP players more powerful skills and buffs for titles only gives them more of an advantage.
The fact that they get the titles they have in general is proof enough of their skills.

Precisely, titles were just another grind like obsidian armour, but unlike the armour the titles are going to provide a benefit over players who don't have it. When you consider that a number of titles can be bought for the right price, this is just wrong.

If titles give you a big advantage, and they take a long time to achieve, we are officially witnessing the shark-jumping moment of Guild Wars.

This is the far worst change i've ever seen.

Why are we moving to "Time > skill" again?

It's fundamentaly different from the concept of GW.

Strongly disagree with this. If it affects PvP... (cries)

OK if you're grinding in any game you really shouldn't be playing it. I think this is fantastic, since I've been working on the titles from their release and not once felt i was grinding. This is just a huge added bonus and i think it rocks!

Firstly, you can only ever display one title (one perk per instance). Second, thats the way it should be IMHO, going through and getting better with titles makes the game seem more fullfilling and adds hours of play. I think baby steps like this will make for an even better game in the future.

"gg demons phear mah lightbring3r title..." Ok, it's fine for PvE. These advantages won't be gamebreaking as long as they stay trivial. But once there's a title that grants invincibility, riots will start.

Also, we don't know if this goes for all the titles or just a couple and what it does. If it makes a big difference I agree it's a big mistake but let's wait and see... Anet hasn't unbalanced the game up till now.. here's to hoping they know what they do....

Title discrimination could already happen and really except for rank and perhaps glad titles (or champion) for some guild entrances, it does not happen. I think it unlikely that someone would request a Lightbringer title for someone to join in a mission.

I'm a bit undecided on the value of making titles have in game effects. Obviously they should have no effect in PvP; having a level playground there is the point. Only skill matters. But titles are already grind, and now Anet is putting more encouragement into grinding for these titles.

I guess I'll have to see what the numbers for what the effects actually are. Minor effects would be highly preferable.

I'm so glad they finally added this feature in all honesty. Now I can have something to do once I've beaten Nightfall 300 times in the first week instead of just going off to farm everything. I'm pretty happy about this is going to work out even if your PUGs will now have even more ridiculous discrimination (that's what >>>GUILD<<< groups are for in Guild Wars) - don't forget that you'll have Heroes in PvE also so you don't have to worry so much about never getting a group again if you don't have the high Lightbringer title.

PS: GO RANK 3 WISDOM

PPS: I wonder what the Treasure Hunter title will do? How about a +10% per rank chance to drop an additional item?
